Day 18

Miss Madison has had a very busy day. We got up this morning and headed out to Pier Park with mom and dad. We had lunch at Five Guys. Madison loved this because she is such a people watcher like me. She was really enjoying watching the madness of that restaurant.

I needed to get her some fall clothes, especially for the Birmingham trip. We are going on the first year of Madison not changing sizes in clothes. She has been in 18 months for a full year now. This is pretty normal though with her disease. She has pretty much stopped growing.

After all that shopping she got a good nap and slept until 6:00! Once I woke her up she had the giggles until I put her back down for bed. She has such a happy soul. Madison does miss her Aunt Amy though. She has been walking around the house calling and looking for her. Lucky for us she will be back in 3 weeks!! We can't wait!!

Day 16 and 17 - Madison's BIG News

I was in on a little secret that Paul and Amy were coming in to town on Tuesday afternoon. The story I was told was that Paul had to do some work in Destin and Amy and Scout were coming along for the ride. The plan was for them to show up at our house for dinner on Tuesday to surprise Mom and Dad. However, we were all in for a huge surprise when I opened the door to Amy holding a bouquet of pink and blue balloons. It didn't occur to me what was going on until Amy asked Madison if she wanted to be a big cousin!! Baby Cristina will be making his or her arrival around April 17. We could not be happier about the newest addition to the family. We all know Madison is going to be a great big cousin.

Day 15

I had to post this picture of Madison and Madeline Simmons playing today. I was so glad we were able to stop by and visit with them, even it was for just a little bit. These two were so cute together! I hope we can get them together again soon!

Day 14

Madison has had such a great day. We have been cleaning house most of the day. She is so funny because as I am dusting the house, she has to have a rag just like mine and she will walk behind me and act like she is dusting too. I should have gotten a picture of that today but it complete slipped my mind.

Thank you Lord for blessing us with yet another day to make precious memories with Madison.

Day 13

Today has been a great day. I have had so much nervous energy and anxiety. I know it is all related to all the appointments next week in Birmingham.

Madison has been the sweetest thing, which she is everyday! I had mentioned in a previous post about us working on her manners. Well, today she was playing with a toy and dropped it. This was while I was preparing our lunch. She is always right there in the kitchen with me. As soon as she dropped it she started pointing at it and was saying "please" "please" "please." I picked it up and handed it to her. I didn't have to ask her to say thank you like we normally do. She looked up at me and said, "Thank you Mama." Oh, it just melted my heart!!! I just love her so so much!!

Day 11 and 12

Well, I was so upset that I missed blogging yesterday. I had to go to Dothan to attend a bridal shower. I didn't take Madison because we are trying to keep her healthy, especially before our big trip to Birmingham next week. Shane and I decided that he would stay home with her while I went to shower.

I never leave Madison for more than two hours or so. Yesterday, I left at 11:30 and didn't get home until 6:30. What was bas about it though was that Madison didn't wake up until 10:30 so I only had one hour to spend with her.

Since, she slept in so late she didn't get an afternoon nap. When I got home she was so sleepy but still happy to see me. She became so clingy to me and didn't want me to leave her side. I put her in bed at 7:00 and by 7:15 she was asleep. It only lasted about a hour and she started screaming. I went in and laid down with her and I couldn't leave her side. Every time I would try she would start that horrible scream and then her breathing would get real heavy. Finally, I just put on my pj's and got in bed for the night with her. Madison needed some major cuddle time with her mommy. We cuddled all night long. She sleeps with us every night and Shane said this morning when he checked on her she was right up beside me. She did that ALL NIGHT long.

This morning it was the same thing. She didn't want me to put her down. I think she thought I was going to leave her again. It broke my heart. I told my mom and dad this morning I didn't think I could leave her again for that long of a time. She is finally starting to see that I am not leaving and got in her walker and played. So, that's the reason why there was no blog post for yesterday. Hopefully, that will be that last time I missed blogging.

Day 10

We have really been working on Madison with her manners. Before, anytime she wanted something, she would do this loud grunt and point to what she wanted. It was after a lot of consistency, but we finally having her saying "please" when she wants something and "thank you" after she receives it. The dilemma is, she thinks that because she says "please" she should be able to get what ever it is she may want.

It is so hard to resist that sweet little voice when she is asking so politely. I think she knows I am a sucker for it too!

We are trying to get her to understand that she can't play with everything mommy and daddy have. For example, tonight, as I was cooking dinner, I had a onion I needed to chop up. I pulled my red cutting knife out of the drawer. The red knife caught Madison's eyes and she came running with her hands out saying, "please," "please," "please." After telling her no repeatedly, and explaining to her why she couldn't play with it, she came and grabbed my leg and kept asking nicely. I knelt down and said, "You can't play with the knife, but you can play with this red dixie up." Oh the joy on her face when I handed her the cup. Then she looked up at me and said, "Thank you!"

To make it even better, I poured my water bottle into a red cup so she could have something like mommy. She played with the cup the entire time I cooked dinner. Every time I would take a sip of my drink she would pretend to take a sip out of hers. SO SWEET!!
